About the job

How long does it take to install a kitchen?

A kitchen of up to 8 metres takes one working day with two fitters. Above that it becomes a day and a half, and sixteen metres takes two days. With a stone or composite worktop we come back a second time, because that worktop is only measured once the cabinets are in place.

More on kitchen installation.

How many fitters come?

Always two. Lifting alone is not safe and takes twice as long.

Do I have to take out my old kitchen myself?

No. We can remove it and take it away. That is a separate line on the quote, so you can choose.

The rate is on our price page.

Can I stay at home during the work?

Usually, yes. Water and power are off for half a day at most.

Do you work at weekends?

By appointment, if there is no other way. As standard we work on weekdays.

What do I need to arrange before the installation day?

Clear the kitchen and the route to it, make sure we can reach the main water tap and the fuse box, and arrange in advance where we can park and how we get upstairs. Have the kitchen delivered a few days before, and complete. Then two fitters can start straight away in the morning.

What comes first: the floor or the kitchen?

First everything inside the walls and the floor: demolition, pipes, plastering and a level screed. Then the floor, which runs on under the kitchen. Then the kitchen, then the tiles or splashback above the worktop, and last the sealant and touching up the paintwork.

About your kitchen

Can you install a kitchen I bought somewhere else?

Yes. We install kitchens from any supplier, also if you ordered it yourself.

See kitchen installation and installing an IKEA kitchen.

What is the difference between renovating and a new kitchen?

When you renovate, the cabinets stay and we only replace what you see. That often costs about half.

All the options are on kitchen renovation.

Can my kitchen still be renovated?

Yes, if your cabinets are dry, solid and straight. Then the cabinets stay and we replace what you see: fronts, worktop, tap and appliances. If the cabinets have been wet or have sagged, or you want the sink or hob in another place, a new kitchen is usually the wiser choice.

Can I replace just the doors?

Yes, as long as the cabinets are still straight and intact. We check that first.

Prices and three checks you can do yourself: replacing kitchen doors and fronts.

Why does a stone worktop come later, and can I still cook?

A composite, ceramic or natural stone worktop is cut to a template of your kitchen. We only make that template once the cabinets are in place and level, because a hard worktop does not follow the cabinets. The stone workshop sets how long cutting takes. If we only replace the worktop, your old one stays until the new one arrives, so you keep cooking.

What if something is missing or damaged at delivery?

Count the boxes against the delivery note, write any visible damage on it before you sign, and take photos. Unpack worktops, splashbacks and fronts quickly to check them, and report what is missing or broken to the seller straight away. On installation day we count everything again. If something essential is missing, we do not start halfway.

Technical questions

Who connects the appliances?

We do, including the hob, oven, cooker hood and dishwasher. We also do the gas and electrical work ourselves.

See replacing kitchen appliances.

Does the fuse box need to be changed?

With an induction hob, often yes, because it needs its own circuit. We see that when we measure up and put it on the quote in advance.

The whole route is on from gas to induction.

Will a new built-in appliance fit my old kitchen?

Usually, if you measure the space and not the old appliance. Ovens, dishwashers and built-in fridges have standard space sizes, and the installation guide of the new appliance tells you which one it needs. If it just does not fit, we adjust the cabinet or the cut-out, or you choose another model.

Where should the sockets go in a new kitchen?

Above the worktop, spread over the places where you use appliances, and a separate socket for each built-in appliance that you can reach without pulling the appliance out. The installation drawing of your kitchen gives the positions and heights. Do not put the heavy appliances together on one circuit.

More on plumbing and electrics in the kitchen.

Should my cooker hood recirculate or extract to the outside?

If the air can go outside through a short duct, extraction is best: grease, smells and moisture leave the house. If that is not possible, as in many apartments and new-build homes, choose recirculation with a carbon filter. We do not connect a hood with its own motor to the duct of the mechanical ventilation.

Why does the plinth under my fridge need a vent grille?

A built-in fridge gives off heat and has to lose it. Cool air comes in through a grille in the plinth, flows up along the back and leaves above the cabinet. Without that airflow the fridge runs hot, uses more power and breaks down sooner.

When is a kitchen sealed, and how long does sealant take to dry?

Sealant is the last thing we do, once the worktop, splashback and plinths are fixed and the surface is clean and dry. Silicone forms a skin within half an hour and then cures from the outside in, so keep a fresh seam dry for the first day. If a seam comes loose later, remove all the old sealant and apply new, because new sealant does not stick to old.

Money and agreements

What does kitchen installation cost per metre?

We charge € 205,70 per metre of kitchen including 21% VAT (€ 170 excluding VAT). Extra work is listed separately underneath.

All rates: prices.

What is included in the installation price?

Levelling the cabinets, fitting the worktop, the sink and the tap, connecting the appliances to what is already there, and the sealing needed for a neat finish. The connection kit, the call-out charge, extra circuits and removing the old kitchen are separate lines on the quote. Nothing is added that you did not agree to first.

When do I pay?

For private customers we ask for a deposit and the rest after completion. If the job comes through a kitchen shop, we invoice the shop.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes, on our work. The supplier's guarantee applies to the kitchen itself.

What if something does not fit or was not delivered?

Then we solve it and sort it out with the supplier. You do not have to chase anyone.

Do you come back if something breaks later?

Yes. Damage, a leak or a door that starts to hang, we repair that too, even years later. No job is too small for us.

Do you speak English?

Our office answers in English by email, phone and WhatsApp, and your quote can be explained in English. Send your questions in English and you get the answer in English.

How to reach us: contact.

Do you work outside central Netherlands?

Often, yes. Call us and we tell you straight away.

We work a lot in Amsterdam, Almere and Utrecht.
