Replacing kitchen doors and fronts
Your cabinets stay, the doors, drawer fronts and handles go. With the price per kitchen, three checks you can do yourself, and when we advise against it.
Can I replace just the fronts of my kitchen, and what does it cost?
Yes, if your cabinets are straight and dry. We replace doors, drawer fronts, handles and hinges; the cabinets stay. For an average kitchen with 10 to 22 fronts that costs € 1.815 to € 4.235 including 21% VAT, everything included. Fitting usually takes one day.

Your kitchen is ten or fifteen years old. The cabinets are still solid and the drawers still run, but the doors look dull and the handles are dated. Then nothing needs to be torn out. We replace what you see: doors, drawer fronts, handles, hinges and, where needed, the visible side panels. The row of cabinets stays where it is.
What new kitchen fronts cost
The price depends on how many fronts you have and which material you choose. Count the doors, the drawer fronts and the visible side panels together.
| Kitchen | Number of fronts | New fronts, all-in, incl. 21% VAT |

Is the colour the only problem, and are the fronts still flat and undamaged? Then wrapping them in foil is cheaper. All the options side by side, from wrapping to a full renovation, are on kitchen renovation.
Three checks before you choose new fronts
New fronts only make sense on cabinets that are in good shape. You can check this yourself in five minutes.
- 1. Push against the cabinetsPush with your hand against the side of a few base and wall cabinets. A cabinet that moves or creaks is loose or has sagged.Everything solid? Good.
- 2. Look under the sinkEmpty the sink cabinet and press the floor with your thumb, especially at the back. If it gives or bulges, water has been standing there.Hard and flat? Good.
- 3. Look at the hinge holesOpen a door and look at the round 35 millimetre hole where the hinge sits. If the edge has crumbled or been filled, a new hinge will not hold there.Clean and intact? Good.
Three times good? Then new fronts will give you years more. Not sure about one of them? We check it when we come to look. If more than two cabinets are damaged, a new kitchen is often the better choice, and we install those too.

What we check when we visit
Herman checks the cabinets on four points. That takes half an hour.
- The floor of the sink cabinet. A tap that leaked for years makes chipboard swell. New fronts on a wet cabinet is money thrown away.
- The hinge points. If the 35 millimetre hole is worn, we fix it per cabinet with a mounting plate, or it cannot be done.
- Whether the row is still straight. More than 3 millimetres difference between two cabinets shows in the gap between the new fronts. Then we adjust the cabinets first.
- The sizes. Standard cabinets are 30, 40, 50, 60 or 80 centimetres wide, and fronts are available for those. If one cabinet is 47 and the next 63 centimetres, every front becomes custom work.
When we advise against it
We do not sell kitchens, so we gain nothing from whichever way you go. That is why we say so when it is not a smart move.
- Swollen or sagging cabinet floors. More than two damaged cabinets means replacing cabinets. Then the work is close to a new row of base cabinets.
- The layout no longer works. If the sink or the hob has to move, the pipes move with it. Then new fronts are no longer a saving. See plumbing and electrics in the kitchen.
- Everything except the cabinets has to go. That is possible, but then it is a complete renovation and we price it that way.
How the job goes
- Visit. We measure every cabinet separately, photograph the hinges and look under the sink.
- Choice. You choose colour, material and handles. We tell you which finishes do less well in a kitchen with a lot of sun or steam.
- Ordering. Made-to-measure fronts have a delivery time. It is on your quote.
- Fitting. We do an average kitchen in one day. You cook as normal that evening.

Only one or two doors?
This page is about new fronts for the whole kitchen, in one colour and one finish, ordered and fitted by us. Is one door broken, have a few warped, or did you order a set online yourself? Then we hang them for you.
Measure the old door, not the cabinet. Open it and measure on the inside, in millimetres: the width, the height, and the distance from the top and bottom to the centre of each hinge hole. The hinge hole is almost always 35 millimetres. Send those sizes with your order and have the supplier drill the holes. Then the new door hangs where the old one did, on the same hinges.
Matching an old colour is the hard part. Fronts fade in daylight and suppliers stop making colours. A new door next to a ten-year-old one almost always stands out. If the sample does not match, replace a group, for example all the doors on the island. A deliberate difference stands out less than a near match.

Hanging and adjusting a few doors usually takes less than an hour.
Questions
What does it cost to replace kitchen fronts?
For an average kitchen with 10 to 22 fronts, € 1.815 to € 4.235 incl. 21% VAT, everything included. A small kitchen starts at € 907,50, a large or custom kitchen goes up to € 6.050. After we have looked at your kitchen you get one fixed price.
Will new fronts fit my old cabinets?
With standard cabinet widths of 30 to 80 centimetres, yes. A kitchen that was once built to measure usually needs custom fronts. We measure every cabinet separately.
Does my kitchen have to come out?
No. The cabinets, the pipes and the worktop stay. You have one day of mess and no demolition waste.
Can you do the side panels and plinths too?
Yes. Visible side panels, plinths and light rails come in the same finish as the fronts. With an older kitchen that almost always pays off, because those are the parts that are damaged or discoloured.
Can I reuse the hinges and drawers?
We replace the hinges as standard. Drawer runners stay if they run smoothly and are not worn.
I only need one or two new doors. Can you help?
Yes. Measure the old door and order the new one with the hinge holes drilled. We hang and adjust it as a service visit: € 108,90 call-out charge plus € 90,75 per hour, incl. 21% VAT.
