Updated on

Most kitchens we install come from a showroom, a furniture store or a web shop. You chose it, we put it in: cabinets, worktop, sink, appliances and the finishing. We charge per metre of kitchen, so you know the price before we start.

8 mof kitchen is one working day with two fitters. Longer kitchens take a day and a half, and sixteen metres takes two days. We work that out in advance, not afterwards.

Your situation

Pick the page that fits. Each one explains what is different and what to look out for.

What installation covers

  • Setting the cabinets level, also on a floor that is not
  • Fitting the worktop, cutting it out and sealing it
  • Connecting the sink and tap
  • Connecting the hob, oven, cooker hood, dishwasher and fridge
  • Plinths, light strips and the finishing
  • Taking out the old kitchen and taking it away, if you want

What it costs

We charge per metre of kitchen: the length of your cabinet wall, plus the island if you have one. The price is in your quote before you agree, and it stays fixed.

What often comes with it

A kitchen rarely goes into a room where everything is ready. These are the things we run into most, and we sort them out ourselves:

  • The fuse box is too small. An induction hob needs its own circuit. We add one from the meter cupboard, or replace the fuse box. See plumbing and electrics.
  • The gas has to go. We cap the gas pipe at the source and pressure-test it. That is part of our job. See gas to induction.
  • The pipes are in the wrong place. We move water and drains within the kitchen area.
  • The wall still needs plastering. We can take on plastering and painting, so you do not need to find a second company.

How it works

  1. You send us the drawing or the measurements. We work out the metres and the days.
  2. You get a fixed price, with any extra items listed separately underneath.
  3. You pick an installation day from our schedule.
  4. Before the day, we call you to go through the plan, so we both know what will happen.
  5. Two fitters arrive, clean up after themselves, and only leave when it is right.

If we find something during the job that means more work, you hear it straight away and you decide. No surprises on the final invoice.

"My cousin could do that."

We hear it a lot. Sometimes it is true: plenty of people are handy. But not everyone is a carpenter, and you only see the difference when something goes wrong.

Do the sums. Fitting it yourself saves one or two thousand euros. The kitchen itself often cost ten or twenty thousand, and much of it is made to measure. A front cut to the wrong size cannot go back on the shelf. A composite worktop that cracks while it is being cut out means a new worktop and a wait. A cabinet wall that is slightly out of level is something you see every morning.

Where it usually goes wrong

  • The wrong tools. You do not cut a worktop with a DIY circular saw. You need a guide rail, the right blade and the right speed, or the top layer chips.
  • Knowing the material. Composite, ceramic, solid wood and laminate each need a different approach.
  • Levelling. Getting cabinets level on a floor that is not is the real skill. Everything after it depends on it.
  • The last ten percent. Joints, sealant, plinths. Exactly where the eye goes.

We bring our own machines, bought and maintained by us. Want to do part of the work yourself? Fine. We tell you honestly which items you can take out of the quote.

We stay around afterwards

Damage, a leak, a door that starts to sag, or something that breaks in three years: we repair that too. No job is too small for a kitchen we installed ourselves.

Questions

How long does it take to install a kitchen?

A kitchen of up to 8 metres takes one working day with two fitters. Longer kitchens take a day and a half, and sixteen metres takes two days.

A stone or composite worktop means a second visit, because that worktop is only measured once the cabinets are in place. Demolition, electrics or plastering are priced separately, and you see them in the quote before you agree.

Can you install a kitchen I bought somewhere else?

Yes. We install kitchens from any supplier, also when you ordered it yourself or bought it online.

We work for kitchen shops every day, so we know nearly every brand and hinge system. Send us the drawing and the packing list, so we know what to expect.

Who connects the appliances?

We do. We connect and test the hob, oven, cooker hood, dishwasher and fridge.

We also do the gas and electrical work ourselves, so you do not need a separate installer. More on replacing appliances.

How many fitters come?

Always two. Lifting alone is not safe, and it takes twice as long.

Can I install my kitchen myself?

You can, but think about what is at stake: you save one or two thousand euros on a kitchen that cost ten to twenty thousand.

Fronts and worktops are often made to measure and cannot simply be replaced. If you want to do part of it yourself, we tell you honestly which items you can take out of the quote.
