Short answer

What does a new worktop on your existing cabinets cost?

A new worktop costs € 110 to € 840 per metre including 21% VAT at market prices, all-in, from laminate to natural stone. The connection kit and the call-out charge come on top. Your cabinets stay. With stone or composite we come twice: once to measure, once to fit.

The booking calendar is in Dutch. Write "English" after your name and we call you in English.

Updated on

A worktop wears out faster than the kitchen underneath. Burn marks next to the hob, a swollen edge by the sink, a knife cut that will not go away. The cabinets can last for years yet. Then we replace just the worktop, and that takes two short visits: one to measure, one to fit.

First the cabinets, then the worktop

A composite or ceramic worktop is rigid. It does not follow the cabinets, so the cabinets have to carry it. If your row of base cabinets is not level, the worktop is under tension and it cracks at the first cut-out. With any stone-type worktop we check the row first and adjust the cabinets where needed.

If the cabinet floors have sagged or been damaged by a leak, a new stone worktop makes no sense. We tell you that when we come to look, before anything is ordered.

Measuring with a template

For natural stone, ceramic and composite we first make a template of your actual kitchen. Walls in Dutch homes are rarely square, and five millimetres over three metres shows straight away as a gap. The template goes to the stone workshop, which cuts the worktop, the cut-outs and the tap holes to size.

Between measuring and fitting there is a delivery time, and the supplier of the worktop sets it. We put that on your quote as soon as we know it. We will not promise two weeks when the workshop needs five.

And your kitchen in the meantime?

On most jobs we only take the old worktop off on the day the new one arrives. So you keep cooking as normal. We do not sell a temporary chipboard worktop as standard. It costs € 475 to € 650 excl. VAT depending on size, for something that goes once the new worktop is in. We only fit one if the sink really leaks or the worktop sags.

Our tipDo not choose on looks alone. You see a worktop every day, and you use it every day too. Ask yourself three things before you choose. Can I put a hot pan on it? How do I clean it? What happens when a knife or a mug falls on it? The table below answers that per material. In short: ceramic handles heat and hardly scratches, composite wants a trivet and no descaler.

Which material, and what it costs per metre

The price per metre is all-in: the worktop, the finished edges, transport and fitting. These are market prices, because the worktop itself comes from a supplier or stone workshop. We fit every material and have no favourite brand.

Material Per metre, incl. 21% VAT Good at Watch out for
Composite € 335 – € 635€ 277 – € 525 excl. VAT Hard, colourfast, seams can be glued almost invisibly No hot pan straight on it. Descaler and drain unblocker leave marks
Ceramic € 405 – € 700€ 335 – € 579 excl. VAT Hardly scratches, handles heat, can be thin (12 mm) A hard knock on the edge can chip it. Repairs are difficult
Natural stone € 470 – € 840€ 388 – € 694 excl. VAT Every slab is different, lasts a lifetime Porous. It needs sealing, again and again. Marble stains from lemon and red wine
Laminate (HPL) € 110 – € 210€ 91 – € 174 excl. VAT Cheapest per metre, lots of designs The cut edge at the sink is the weak spot. That is where swelling starts
Solid wood € 200 – € 420€ 165 – € 347 excl. VAT Warm, and you can sand a scratch out Oil it twice a year. It moves with dry air and steam

Source: market indication, 1 September 2026. The market quotes these prices including VAT; the excluding-VAT figures are worked back and rounded. Each cut-out for a sink or hob adds € 50 – € 100 incl. VAT. A three-metre composite worktop comes to € 1.100 – € 2.100 including VAT at market prices.

We supply and fit all five. We have no house brand and no bonus on any particular slab, so we are free to tell you that laminate is often the wiser choice than marble for a family with children. More about each material: worktops: materials and colours.

What always comes with it

Replacing a worktop is never just the worktop. These items belong with it, and we put them on the quote up front:

  • Disconnecting and reconnecting the sink and tap. An undermount sink is glued to the new worktop in the workshop.
  • Connection materials: siphon, drain, sealant and fixings. The extended connection kit costs € 199,65 incl. VAT (€ 165 excl.). Reusing an old siphon leaks within a year, so it is not worth it.
  • The cut-out for the hob. A different hob rarely has the same cut-out size. With a new hob we take that size into the template.
  • Splashback or upstand. The old worktop leaves a strip of unfinished wall behind. The old row of tiles rarely matches the new worktop.
  • Call-out charge € 72,60 incl. VAT (€ 60 excl.). Two visits, charged once.

Questions

Can I replace my worktop without ripping out the kitchen?

Yes. The worktop comes off and the cabinets stay where they are.

Only an undermount sink glued to the old worktop or a fully sealed splashback takes extra time to remove, and you see that on the quote.

How long from measuring to fitting?

Measuring takes half an hour and fitting takes half a day. The delivery time of the worktop sits in between, and the stone workshop sets it.

You hear the date as soon as the workshop confirms it. We do not build in slack that we later have to make up for.

Will a new worktop fit my old cabinets?

Almost always. Standard base cabinets are 60 centimetres deep and every worktop is made for that.

Shallow 50 centimetre cabinets or a home-built kitchen need custom work. We measure that before you order anything.

Do I get a temporary worktop during the delivery time?

Usually you do not need one. We only take the old worktop off on the day the new one arrives.

Only if the sink really leaks or the worktop sags do we fit something temporary. We do not offer it unasked.

Can you fit a worktop I bought myself?

Yes, if it has been cut to size and the cut-outs are right.

We check it before we take the old worktop off. If the size is wrong, the worktop goes back and we move the date. We do not fit a worktop that only half fits.

What happens to the old worktop?

We take it away. A three-metre stone worktop does not fit in your car.

For a single worktop that is part of the job. For a complete kitchen, removal is a separate line on the quote.
